With age, Liquid Snake had ben granted the ability to sleep a bit more soundly--but even a bit more than Liquid usually slept wasn't quite normal. And it did nothing against his nightmares.

[That slight tightening alone wasn't enough to wake the sleeping engineer. Otacon was not what could be called a deep sleeper, but he slept deeper than Liquid - which wasn't saying much. He murmured something in his sleep, snuggling into Liquid - and the pillow, which was a little more important right then, according to his sleeping mind.]

Liquid shuddered involuntarily, letting go of Otacon and turning away; he curled up slightly as if trying to protect himself from some unseen threat.

The absence of Liquid's warmth drew a murmur of discomfort from him, and he absently tugged the blankets tighter around himself. It felt wrong, to be sleeping without those arms around him. He stirred, but didn't wake fully just yet.

"..." A few more seconds of relative silence passed, with Liquid making quiet sounds of vague discomfort--then sitting bolt upright and crying out in Arabic.

"/I don't want to go back--!/" Shaking violently, Liquid pulled his knees to his chest,hands moving to his head. "/I won't, I won't go back, I'll die first.../"
