eh.... been busy. hella busy
So: three month review:
When we last left off, one manager quit, leaving my store with two AGMs (myself and the aptly-named Brian Dubbs). That lasted for about three weeks. We were given a MIT (manager in training) named Rick. Said he was working for Fairborn PD (lie). Said he used to be a cop (lie). Said he was ready for anything food service could send his way (big lie).
Anyway. an MIT can't close solo, so I was still closing five nights a week, always through the weekend, AND training Rick on how to manage people in food service.
I must suck at training, cuz it didn't take.
Almost immediately he managed to alienate himself from the rest of the staff, failing to run the kitchen effectively, picking stupid battles with the employees, sexually harassing customers, etc. etc.
Destined for greatness, this one.
During his shifts, he would give out shots to people, not ring them in, and then deny it. (red flag)
He would also eat four orders of corn dogs on a shift, and never ring any of it in. (red flag)
Also, when doing bookwork, he always seemed to come up short in his deposits. (red frickin tarp)
At one point, an employee told me he pour alcohol into a soda cup. I confronted Rick about it, but I found no hard evidence. I also handled the situation poorly. I was reprimanded for it, and life went on.
One night, the employees invite Rick out to join them at Waffle House after work. In a stroke of well-timed generosity, Rick offers to pay for everyone's food. A noble gesture, and a pretty slick way to get in the good graces of the employees.
And kinda strange that his deposit was short again. By $120.
Rick was called in to explain the shortage. He says that he must have made a mathematical error somewhere, and offers to pay the balance.
And then does so. On the spot. WITH CASH.
Hmmm......
Of course, at this point, no one is buying this bullshit, and I think Rick knew it. So, a day later, he comes in, starts his shift, and then quits about two hours in, leaving me in charge of the store. On a Saturday. As usual.
On Monday, he comes in to talk to Sean (GM) to see when he works again.
... yes Alex, I'd like to buy a fucking clue for a 1000....
After Sean calmly explains to him that he on longer has a job, Rick immediately announces he's moving back to California, where I guess his kind are tolerated.
So... back to square one... with 2 months wasted on a fat, thieving, lying ass-hat.
They promoted a kitchen manager at another store, trained him, then shipped him to us. So now, finally, after almost three months, we are back to full strength.
On to now...
Yesterday, I was told I'll be working at Beavercreek starting next week. It's a vote of confidence from my superiors, as Beavercreek is widely considered the hardest store to manage. Considering the store is projected to do 3.5 million this year (industry standard for a 'profitable store' is 2 million), that reputation is well earned.
Needless to say, I'm pretty much scared shitless.
Other non-work stuff:
Going back to England: Nov. 5 -> 15th. Want stuff? Ask now.
Oh, yea, I moved too. Living off County Line Road in Beavercreek.
And that's basically it. Gonna get some sleep now.
