The Government constantly bang on about how people should try to reduce their usage of private transport and use more public transport for their journeys to reduce their own travelling costs, save fuel, reduce congestion etc, etc

It's exactly the same for me when I go for my training weekends in London straight from work.
To get there by public transport I'd have to drive to Long Buckby or Milton Keynes then catch a train to London then catch a tube across the city. The journey would take me at least 3 hours if everything went like clockwork and would cost me at least 40 EACH WAY.
Or I can drive down the M1 which takes me 2 hours even when the Foo Fighters are playing Wembley, and costs me £25 in diesel for the round trip.
They really do need to provide an alternative rather than just penalising those of us who have to travel.
