I don't know too many answers but I'm pretty sure there will be a tribute to JPII. Your not knowing any German should be no problem as most people here are able to speak English (well...not all of them fluently *lol*) The weather should be warm (~30°C), dry and sunny if it remains as it is at the moment. The WYD food is...not the best but alright. As to my information there will be a lot of US Americans.
Concerning the people you'll meet I'd say loads of nice people ;D Getting lost could definitely happen but there are always people willing to tell you the right way so don't worry *g*
if its anything at all liek the last WYD, which it is, of COURSE its gonna ROCK! That was probably the best week of my whole life... I still ahve sooo many great memories from it. lol I was a nerd yesterdaya dn pulled out all my pix from Toronto... it made me soo excited for Germany! I mean, where else do you have hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world coming together for a good cause adn not competing against one another? NOWHERE. Ahh, i love it.
I bought some pins today to trade and i'm thinking of picking up some little koala bears before i leave. People tend to love aussie stuff to trade.
I don't know any german, but i've been trying to learn, but i'm told most people can speak english, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. One guy in our group has german parents so i'm going to hang out with him and he can translate for me. Our bishop, who is coming with us, is also fluent in German, so that should come in handy.
And we've also been told that its not a 'life changing experience' because you come back with the same sort of values, just stronger. So its life confirming, and life enriching.
:) I'm so excited, I just went out shopping yesterday for stuff to trade, but I'm mostly gonna wait until after the Fourth of July (for those none-Americans: the 4th of July is our Independence Day here, so we have fireworks and such, and lots of American Flad things) because a lot of things will be on sale then. I *did* buy some cool socks to trade (they're red, white, and blue, and have american flags on them)...I also have some connections with the NBA Pistons, so I'm going to get some Pistons basketball stuff to bring with me....I'm also going to make some rosaries or something and give those away. heh, the possabilities are ENDLSS!
I'm sure John Paul the Great is watching over us all as we prepare for our pilgramage. :)
Dude! Thats such a GREAT idea! I didnt even think about that.... theres always a bunch of sales after the 4th... good call! Ill probably try and get some small pins or something bc we are going to be traveling in france and spain for a few days after WYD is over... ahh! I have no idea how i am g2 pack! lol Well, Hope you have a lovely weekend!
