You won't admit you love me, and so...

How am I ever to know?!

Bah, I love Cake. That cover's so ridiculously fun. Anyway, I'm in the mood for fic. Fic that I can print off and take outside with me and read it while I bask, gloriously, in the sunshine and work on tanning freckling. Tanning bed tans look ugly. The only problem is... I am having issues finding good quality Harry Potter ( Read more... )

silly frivolity, fic, grouchy

The idea of someone sleeping with a rifle right beside him/her is somewhat terrifying. Eek.

Mm. I feel the same way sometimes. Have you seen gehayi's stuff?

I got to thinking about the way fanfic archives are and what's wrong with them after hpnic06 asked me what my idea of the platonic ideal of a fanfic archive was. Of course, as I was at work, and pressing the F2 key doesn't take much mental effort, I got to thinking about that. I've got more tl;dr thoughts on what is wrong with various archives (and in other fandoms, where FFN is the only option, what they really need).

Seeing as how it's Monday, my mind is a little broken, but care to elaborate on that? Tl;dr thoughts and bad Percy/Scabbers porn is kind of a staple of this blog.

See, tl;dr thoughts also require that I write them out. And since I have the day off, I don't think I'm up to that task.

I've given up with HP fanfic; there's just too much crap out there. You might get lucky and find a gem, but more likely than not, you'll get stuck with some suethor's version of the tale. Though I do suggest SpehereofSilence.org; they have some good HP and IY stories on there, but don't update very often.

I understand entirely about the paranoia. I used to sleep with a steak knife under my pillow because I was terrfied some weirdo was going to try to hurt me. We lived out in the middle of nowhere, with the closest neighbours our elderly landlords whom I doubt could've heard or helped me out in the case of an attack.

Yeah, our nearest neighbors are on the other side of the hill, and my house is much closer to the highway than theirs. Cause for worry... =//

It just seems like there's so much crap in fandom, I don't know, I was hoping for a sort of Shangri-La.

I agree. It's really hard, and sometimes its just not worth it, but you have to look anyways.

Then again, half the fandoms never read the books, either, which is sad. *is going through her second read thru of HBP*

I knwo how you feel fanfic wise. Ones I see nowaways I read a chapter or only part and go "Ack!" You have that many reviews and how many errors with crappy story lines and a BETA?!?!?! But I have a few good HP ones from ff.net that I stalk if you'd like the links.
