Juanita and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Last night I took my car in to Sears to get the oil changed. I chose Sears primarily because I work all day, and they're the only place I could find that stayed open late, and also because I know two of the mechanics there, one of whom is a fairly nice boy. We arrived there around 5:35, and the man who checked us in said it'd be about an hour and a ( Read more... )

Part of the blame goes to the douche nozzle who changed your oil last. Obviously they have no business changing oil if they strip the drain plug. Same thing with my car. What a pain in the rear to leave the car up on the jacks and have to hitch a ride to the auto parts store for a new plug. GRRR.

Also I don't trust jiffy lube or anybody else for that matter, I know of somebody who took their car there and they forgot to put the drain plug back on!!! :-O! So, without oil, the car soon just about blew up.

Well, obviously that mechanic can get part of the blame, but I wasn't so angry about the fact that that had to be done as the fact that they had no concept of time! You'd think that mechanics could look at the number of cars they had in line and the issues that had to be fixed and give a rough estimate that was somewhere near the right time. An hour and a half would have been ok with me, but the fact that they were way wrong kind of upset me.

If they had told me, "Oh, there's a fairly long wait, it'll probably be over two hours, maybe closer to three," then I wouldn't have elected to leave it there. And the fact that I checked back twice, and each time I checked back, they told me 20-30 minutes when the car was really nowhere near the front of the line? Way wrong.
