The Shedunnit book club read for May is Margery Allingham’s book The Tiger in the Smoke. I wasn’t looking forward to it but actually I really enjoyed it. I started yesterday evening and finished it today, and I managed to go for a two and a half hour walk as well. Of course nothing else happened, but it’s my day off, so I am forgiving myself about

Margery Allingham is my favourite Queen of Crime and The Tiger in the Smoke is brilliant, so atmospheric. As you liked that, you may enjoy More Work for the Undertaker and Hide My Eyes, both set in post-war London.

I recently read an article by Agatha Christie, in which she wrote of her admiration for Allingham but said she didn't think Luke was a very good detective. Interesting!
