Griefer of mass destruction? I got this email from one of my groups in Second Life

It's not likely. This is probably similar to those e-mails Mom's and other family members like to chain mail around to EVERYONE EVER on in their address books proclaiming "DEAR LORD IN HEAVEN ABOVE, THIS THING WILL WHUP YOUR COMPUTERS ASS! AAAAAAH!" And it's usually nothing, or a completely false virus that doesn't exist, it's just talked about to try and scare people and make them all flustered.

And, there isn't a way for a griefer to do that sort of thing, unless they hacked the server that contains the Player information, in which case, if wouldn't matter if you were logged in or not. (Note: I have limited knowledge on these sorts of things, but have Katze to confer with.)

Essentially, there is likely nothing to worry about, it's probably a case of fear mongering.

Yes, I read the responses to my post on second_lifers as well. I kept thinking it was an urban legend of SL. I wonder if there are others.

No, it's real, but it's not as bad as all that. You just have to be careful when you pick stuff up that you buy and etc.
