Crossposted to my personal journals, but I know several folks here don't follow those and am looking for opinions and whatnot, for my own curiosity ( Read more... )

I had a nook color. It was nice. I could read magazines in color and children's books. It wasn't bad and you can download apps now although I'm not sure how that works recently. I upgraded to an iPad. With an iPad, you can download the major ereader apps and use Barnes and noble or amazon among others.

I have a Fire and Bel has a Fire and a regular Kindle keyboard. He prefers to read on the regular Kindle keyboard.

I like the Fire and I use it to read, play games (plants vs. zombies, cut the rope ^o^), browse the web and stuff. I even use Trillian on it to talk to people through messaging :3 the only problem is the autocorrect which you can fix in settings. I also listen to Pandora on it and the speaker is really good for a small thing like that :O

You forgot we use it for twitter too! I use twitter on my fire rather than my comp these days.

I have a Kindle DX with 3G, and it's pretty much exactly what I wanted. My mom has a Fire, but I'm not very interested in upgrading since I use my phone for anything that people use their Fires for.

Kraal has a Nook with the black and white e-ink which he loves.
He has Facebook, Gmail and Twitter capabilities on it, which he never uses. He does use it for PDFs and the like, but I have not seen him clutching a paperback into the wee hours of the morning since I bought it for him last June.
My only complaint? I miss all the colorful paperback art of his fantasy and sci-fi novels he reads.

I have a Nook. Nothing fancy, just the original black and white e-ink model. I didn't need anything more sophisticated because it's likely that I will have a tablet or a netbook in my near future, so all I needed was something for reading. It took me the longest to give into an e-reader because I like the feel of an actual book and turning actual pages (and the book smell. If they can only get the e-readers to smell like books..) but what sold me is the ability to download entire fanfics. XD I'm a huuuuuuge fanfiction reader so this was an amazing development!

So the original Nook is maybe not as cool as the Fire, but it does the trick!
