This is the usual "mostly friends only" notice, but post-dated so it'll stay prominent. If you're looking for the new stuff, it'll always be below this.
Hi! Not sure if you'll recognize my username; I'm the person who left the Feynman comment in the physics community post about going to the same school for undergrad and graduate school. Name's Alex, I'm a high school senior in P'ton, NJ. Anyway, I noticed from your userinfo that you used to work on the googlebar. I just wanted to thank you and your buddies (?) for creating that, it is incredibly useful and valuable. Until I realized the firefox had been developed, I used Mozilla, put up with it's long loading time, just so I could use the googlebar. It rocks...thanks!
(if you want...you can delete this comment, now. I don't really care, just wanted to tell you that)
just a quick question: my younger brother-in-law is about to start grad school in organic chem at UVA. now anything about the program? any words of wisdom?
thanks. i will pass it on. and his package is very nice. i was actually offended when i heard it since he will be making almost half my salary and i'm an assistant prof. (but in humanities of course so we get screwed on pay day).
the info on quals is helpful because our exams ran differently and i probably wound not have known that.
Hi there! I just stumbled upon your journal at the scientificwhims community, and I found you very fascinating. We have many interests in common, and I like your writing style. I'd be very interested in reading your protected entries as well.
I'm a Finnish biochemistry undergrad student myself, though right now I spend my days mainly working and trying to figure out if I should really pursue a career in biochemistry or not. In addition to chemistry and physics, I'm interested in psychology and tend to ramble quite a bit about that subject.
Hey. I've stumbled in from academics_anon. Couldn't resist your icons. It looks like we're in the same field (computational physical chemistry) and we're both in grad school in the Midwest? I'm halfway expecting you to say "Oh, don't you recognize me? This is ____; we're in the same research group, silly!" at any time now. ;-) Anyway, I'd be interested in reading your academic-related posts, if you'll allow me. I don't post much about grad school myself, though. My blog consists mainly of quasi-political ramblings and everyday randomness. Even if you're not up for adding me (which I'd completely understand), at least accept my compliments on your icons. ^_^
