Frequently Asked Questions
& questions that were asked once and we figured we'd post it.
1. What does "AU" mean?
AU stands for Alternate Universe. This means that when you apply here, your character will have none of the memories or powers of their canon world. They will have been born in this world and raised in it.

In The Weekly Metropolitan, the world is essentially the same as our modern world today, except for the fact that Metropolis is made up. Other than that, the rest of the world is perfectly intact. The fun about AU RP's is to see how your character will react in situations different from their own canon (minus the whole "WHERE AM I?!" deal).

2. So do our characters get to keep their powers?
For the most part, no. There will be no exorcists, ninjas, or wizards. However, depending on your character's canon powers, you may transform them into AU abilities--for example, Kanda might instead be an expert swordsman, and Lelouch might have super-persuasive debate skills. Other, more "explainable" concepts (such as Badou's frenzies when lacking cigarettes) are allowed.

Basically, you should just go easy on the supernatural powers, but anything that could be explained through persistent training or everyday lifestyles should be okay.

If you have any character-specific questions, feel free to post here.

3. My character is a robot/animal/princess!!
Robots are allowed to a certain extent. For example, it's possible for a character to have metal arms or legs--just, total 100% robots will not be allowed as it's difficult to incorporate them into the atmosphere. However, robot characters may be transformed into humans for the sake of AU roleplay, if that's what you desire.

Animalistic traits are also allowed--an example would include Zidane Tribal's tail. Though total animal characters (such as Red XIII) will have to be transformed into humans if you want to RP them here.

Royal blood will be tougher to explain. If you have a character and wish to boast of their royal blood, the explanation of why they're working at a city paper instead of sitting in a royal palace better be pretty well-written. Of course, it's also possible to convert otherwise "royal" characters into just normal people, or relatives of powerful politicians if you prefer.

4. Can I apply for two twins at once?
If you plan to play a member of a pair of twins/triplets/etc. (examples include Luki & Noki and Fred & George), it is preferred that you apply for only one of them rather than all. You can also request for your character's other half OOCly and NPC your other twin until you get a proper player.

5. Will we actually have to write articles/take photographs?
Only if you want to. An actual community medium for your characters to write articles and take photographs is currently in the making--but for now if you have something substantial that you want to post, feel free to do it in your own RP journal.

For now, the Weekly Metropolitan RP will just aim to put your characters in the environment of the press office.

6. What is godmodding?
Godmodding means controlling someone else's character without their permission. Here's a pretty standard example of godmodding:

"And then Bob punched James right in the gut, knocking him out of the second floor window!"

Unless Bob's player has James' player's OOC permission to punch James in the gut, it's godmodding and it's not okay. A better, less-godmoddy way of fixing that sentence would be:

"And then Bob whipped out his fist, aiming for James' gut."

That way James' player can react, and not just be senselessly controlled.
