So, I feel like I just need to complain. I got a talking to at work, and I'm kind of pissed off because I don't think it was necessary.
I work at a theater and we have both a female and male restroom attendant. Our job is to clean the restrooms. Well, during the daytime, it's not too busy so we only have to check them about every half hour to an hour to keep them cleaned and stocked. So in our free time we help clean the auditoriums. During the week there isn't an usher lead in charge of cleaning them during the day because it's so slow, but it's busy on the weekends so we did have someone come in today.
Our usher lead today only helped clean maybe one or two auditoriums! I don't completely blame her because the snack lead had her working at concessions and box office and just about everywhere but where she was supposed to be. However, I do think she needed to stop being so nice and just tell him she had her own job to do. And, because she wasn't doing her job, we couldn't do ours because we were doing hers.
So, when the relief restroom attendants came in four hours later, me and the guy with me went on break, leaving the other attendants in charge of restrooms and cleaning auditoriums. There was about 30 minutes until the next one let out and we would be back around then to help.
As we were clocking back in to go help the other attendants, the relief snack lead pulls us aside and tells us we were supposed to report to the usher lead we were going on break before we went and that next time we needed to make sure to do that because she was wondering where we had went. Well, we just obediently nodded our heads yes, but it still pissed me off.
First of all, why should I report to her when I haven't fucking seen or talked to her all damn day?
Second of all, we don't typically report to the usher lead as a restroom attendant.
Third, we left two people in charge and were going to be back in time to help them. In addition to the like five others clocking in for work about the same time.
Forth, we actually did tell her earlier in the day, the like only time we did see her, we were going on break when the relief restroom attendants came in. Guess she forgot.
Finally, and most importantly, why is the relief snack lead telling me this (who came in about the time we went on break) when the usher lead is obviously the one who has the issue?
So I do your damn job all day, in addition to mine (and well I might add considering the manager told us before we left that he thought we did a great job juggling everything today), then turn around and have someone else give me grief on your behalf because I didn't remind you I was going on break, even though I had all of the bases covered!
Yeah, it's not that big of a deal, and sure I probably should have called out over the radio I was going on break. But, I saw her as I was going to the break room and she could have easily said then, "hey, can you just remind me next time right before you go on break so I know when to expect you back. K thanks." Instead of having someone else do your job...again!
I probably wouldn't be so pissed, but this kind of shit happens all the time. They watch you bust your ass all day to get everything done, then cut you down because one little thing that amounts to jack. Why don't you go yell at the people who are standing around not doing anything?!
Urgh!
