It's been aaaages since I last did this, so here it is again! Some of my favourite artists whom I feel have really influenced and inspired me throughout the years:
I actually still cant see a thing, but i´ll reply anyway haha
Takehiko Inoue ... but actually not for his drawings in the first place, but his ability as a storyteller. This is such a rare talent and his characters feel so real and just downright honest. I absolutely admire that ! There are a lot of artists that I like for their skill, but theres no one like Inoue. His work is touching my heart <3
Aw man! My stupid images grrrrrrrrrrrrr! But for the record, the artists I've listed are:
The Black Frog Jan Balet JC Leyendecker Jordi Bernet Mike Mignola Katsuya Terada Manu Arenas Kuroboshi Kouhaku
Takehiko's work is amazing, his progression as a storyteller over the years has been nothing short of amazing, and I have so much respect for his skill as well! He's another crazy godly artist haha
Nice calls! TBF is amazingameiApril 29 2010, 14:39:31 UTC
I took off my glasses but now my belly feels fucked so posting here :)
artists wot I really dig what you did not list in no particular order:
James Jean (a given) contour lines are fun! Sam Weber (sometimes I think him and JJ have a similar feel? idk) Hiroaki Samura (also a given) cinematic panelling, gorgeous pencils! JS Sargent mainly studying his paintings JW Waterhouse; poss not the most technically proficient painter out there but def paints really epic pining John Foster
There are a billion artists I really like, but I feel I need to really study further to call them an influence so that's another kettle of fish altogether. :) I really wanna learn how to pull back and learn how to do a more simplified style so maybe this list will totally be revised in a couple of months time!
I should list lj friends too but perhaps when I'm not so fuzzyheaded. :U
I love Zhang Xiaogang and his Bloodline paintings, I saw one of them in a gallery in Sydney (it was a big ass painting too) and was blown away. I mention him because I'm actually drawing something right now that is really heavily influenced by his style but it lacks all his mood and sensitivity so ehhhhhhhhh. He seems to be kind of a one-trick pony though and doesn't appear to have produced anything else of note which makes me a saaaaad panda.
OMG ♥ ( I actually have a folder dedicated to saving all your work- I love it so much and your Layton pictures reminded me to kick my ass into gear with environments you been a huge inspiration with a lot of things)
But let's see my favorite artists? I'm actually in love with almost everyones work, but I'm going to do this in the way I google artists when I need inspiration.
Usually anything French. Pixiv, my computer is filled with things mainly from you(so many pokaymans fanart). Mike Mignola Jenna Chew James Jean Yamada Akihiro Claire Wendling Dylan Cole JC Leyendecker Grand Youkan Rackham Jana, Alpenfenger, Chim, Falk, SFG, Brav and that whole crew. Ivan Bilibin
