5 Mckenna Ryan blocks- I’ve been wanting to do this one for awhile but I couldn’t find the Time to Play pattern. I finally contacted someone who had a finished one on her blog and asked her if she would sell or trade me her pattern. Instead, she lent me her pattern, asking only that I send it back when I’m done. Who does this for a perfect stranger? I love quilters!!

I didn’t say anything until now because I wasn’t sure I could find the pattern… and then I couldn’t believe someone would just send it to me… and it got here Saturday so now I can go ahead- indeed, I have to go ahead with the first block quickly so I can return the pattern.

This is going to be a whole new set of techniques and I hope I don’t do anything very dreadfully badly because if I can make it work for me, it will be a gorgeous quilt!

I have most of the pieces traced onto Steam-A-Seam now and will cut them out and iron them on fabric in the next couple of days. Once I have that done, I can cut out the pieces and start assembling them. So far, this is easy and fun! The only bad thing is that I can’t take it with me to work on before work.

I have all the pieces of the first block ironed onto their fabrics and have started cutting them out. This is going to take awhile! I'm going to start with the smallest pieces first and make the larger bits- like the squirrel, beaver and raccoons- so that the tiny tiny pieces don't get lost. I do have to clean my iron before I do anything more though- I managed to get goo on it. I'll have to figure a way not to do that.
