New Homework chapter #17: Toughing it Out

Jul 16, 2017 17:51

I know it's been forever. But my retirement has finally come through (after being delayed a number of times) so the plan is that having more time to write, I'll be able to post a lot more regularly ( Read more... )

Hi Wren the joy I felt when I realised it was a new chapter was wonderful. You know how I hoped with your retirement you would get time to write again and yay here we are.
I loved the usual back and forth dialogue getting inside their heads and how they put their thoughts together and the thing that shouted out was all their thoughts and actions was how to care for each other without the other knowing. The love and growth the boys are at is so exciting to read for me.
Love ❤️ ❤️ love that this story is back up and running.
I was going to re read all of Reverberation and Homecoming on MW but then I saw the chapter and couldn't wait lol
I hope you are enjoying the slower lane of life my dear friend xx

Thanks, Chris. I certainly am. It's very nice. Mind you, between organising all the finance stuff, and spending most of this last week in Sydney, there has been a bit of an absence of down time. But it's great.

I can highly recommend it.

Glad you enjoyed this one.

It felt so good to get back into writing. Am seriously looking forward to doing more of it.

You've done it again. This new chapter brings the characters to life! It will be interesting to see where they end up on their get-a-way. I should warn you though, I retired 7 years ago with plans to write my hand off. Sometimes I do and sometimes the muse decides to go elsewhere. You can only do so much. Just have fun!

Thank you. I agree about the time thing. Two weeks in and already I'm wondering if I'm going to have as much time to write as I'd expected.

But even if it's not every day or even every week, at least I should be able to do better than every six months. That's what I hope anyway. *g*

When it means you are able to write more, I think I am as happy about your retirement as you are.

Thank you, Cherie, that's a lovely thing to say. I was very ambivalent about the whole retiring thing initially, but I must say I'm enjoying it now.

Justin's grown. Knows it's useless to let Craig get to him.
Jennifer is not at fault but I see where Justin gets his sense of responsibility comes from.
Gus is well adjusted to his living arrangement, no fear that the guys aren't doing something right. Ask the ladybug.

So happy to see this updated. Definitely looking forward to more.

Yes, Justin has grown. I think having Gus full time at the moment has helped him understand that the failings in his relationship with Craig are all on Craig's side. He knows that he would never treat Gus that way. And he's seeing that although there were good times in his relationship there weren't as many as they could have been, and they were always on Craig's terms.

He has no memory of Craig making time for him every day, of spending time at the end of each day playing with him or letting him talk about school or any of the things that he and Brian are taking care to do with Gus.

He's getting a whole new perspective on parenting and, using Brian (and even himself) as yardsticks he knows how far of the ideal Craig falls in comparison.

Glad you enjoyed and I'm definitely looking forward to writing some more.
