I'm venting again so feel free to ignore.

Examples of simply abominable writing that I came across just today )

I completely relate to your experience. I have been sorely tempted to offer editorial support to some of the authors I’ve been reading lately. But, I catch myself because part of me is cheering that there are people out there actually writing, and trying to be creative. It is frustrating and as a teacher I fight to ever present dilemma of to correct or not correct total strangers. I wish there were a good solution that wouldn’t upset or insult people.

All of the above. And some of them are so touchy. One of them got really huffy when I pointed out that a story in which Justin had just had Brian's baby when the story started should have been flagged as an mpreg. Kept insisting that since he'd already had the baby it didn't count. Seriously? If it didn't matter how the baby came to be born, why not have it via a surrogate? Actually I think it probably did matter to the later plot because I think it was one of those "got him pregnant but didn't know" kind of things. I don't read mpreg (which is why I was annoyed by the lack of warning) and didn't stick around long enough to find out.

Or the writer whose story had Brian dying half way through who didn't like being told that she should have used the "major character death" warning because she didn't want to 'spoli (sic) the impact'. I think the mods on that site finally made her use it.

If they get that touchy just about classification, I hate to think what they'd be like over any criticism of content.
