First let me say, You Made My Day! Thank you so much for this, Wren. This chapter was so good. I was so happy when Joanie called with support and an apology to Brian. (Claire can go suck on a rotten egg.) But, I hope Joanie will continue to stand by Brian and Justin with this new development.
Happy to see Leo and Remson standing by Brian, and I think Brian better call Leo's lawyer as soon as possible.

I'm trying to figure out Chris' action here. Unless he has something to gain by going to the cops about his dad, but I'm coming up blank. Because as Brian said if they find out about Hobbs, Sr.... Junior can find out what it's like to be just a working Joe , as everybody would turn their backs on him. So, what's he up to, and what does he have planned? All I know is, Brian better make a bee-line to Jen's and inform Justin about this before he hears it on a report broadcast or anyone else. Hopefully, Hobbs Sr sings like a canary about Craig, seeing as the rest aren't implicating him yet ( ... )

Thank you so much, Cathy.

This chapter has had about seven revisions because I was tossing up two ways to go with the Hobbs family. I finally decided on this one, and hope that I can make it work.

Chris's motivations are a little twisted - just like Chris himself really. All will be revealed at some point.

As for Craig - I have something in mind for Craig. We'll see if I can make that work as well.

Yes, I do have plans to continue. Now that I've nearly finished the work I've been having done on the house (I even have a lovely new PC although it's not set up yet) I will have more time and space to write. I'm really looking forward to spending more time with these characters we all love so much.

Oh! I literally did a happy dance when I saw that you had updated! Lovely chapter, Wren! So refreshing to see Joanie coming to her senses. Tx for the marvelous update!

Thanks, Kin. I vacillate between wanting to just write Joanie off and wanting to redeem her. In this story, at least, I've chosen redemption because I have to believe that this is possible. If it's completely impossible for people to grow and change and evolve - then that paints a pretty bleak picture for the world.

I am indeed. And feeling inspired at the moment. Partly because after months of living in chaos while I've been having work done around the house, I've nearly got to the end of that. By the end of this month, I'm hopeful that all the boxes and stuff piled everywhere will have disappeared, my new PC will be set up and I'll have a clear space to work in. Just the thought of it makes me feel better.

Yes. My feelings about Joanie are complex. But in this story, at this time, it seems important to me to hold to the belief that people - all of us - can grow and change and become better, more evolved, human beings. And in this story, I think there are several things motivating Joanie. One is just that she's lonely. Into that lonely life comes the news that she has a grandson about whom she knows very little. When she finally got to see Gus, and to meet Justin, suddenly the "all gays are perverts who will burn in Hell", came up against the fact that Gus is very cute, and Justin is the perfect WASP - blond, beautiful, smart - if he was a girl, he'd be exactly the sort of daughter in law she'd love to boast about. Justin also loves her son. And I think Joanie finally sees that. Sees the love, not just the lust that the bible thumpers thunder about. This beautiful, perfect WASP boy loves her son. And somewhere under all the ignorance and bigotry, so does she. Plus she meets Jenn. And Jenn not only loves her own son, she loves ( ... )

Thank you for the new chapter. Wren. Joan's and Chris Jr's actions are surprising. For me it was more Joan's than Hobbs. I think Chris might have learned his lesson or finally came the fuck out of the closet. To be fair, he could also be trying to gain something by turning his father in too. Joan I think just finally came to her senses about everything.

I hope this story continues. XD

I've just written a great long ramble about Joanie, so I won't repeat it, I'll just say that I think that Joanie, for the first time in a long time, is associating with people who freely love each other and demonstrate that love - Brian, Justin, Gus, Jenn, even Molly - and in her loneliness she hungers to share in that.

As for Chris ... Chris's motivations are more than a little twisted, but all that will become clear I hope as the story moves along.

I am glad Joan has "seen the light", regarding how love really is and how she realizes her actions towards Brian were wrong. Now if Clair and her boys would ever come around to Joan's new perspective, tho I think that might give Brian a heart attack. lol

Sighs, aren't his motives always twisted in some way.
