Typos

Sometimes typos lead you down the most intriguing thought pathways.

Came across this one today in a summary grid.

Brian's thoughts about a moth after the Rage party.

Had me pondering over why Brian would be thinking about a "moth" for ages before I realised it was a typo.

(Justin looks amazing in a moth mask, apparently.)

The very best typo I have ever read is " Justin sucked on Brian's cook". I read that at about 2 o'clock and woke up the whole house. It's so nice to see you posting again Wren I posted for the first time in about 3 years just a week ago. Also I re-read The Experiment, recently. Still a stellar read.

Funny but sad.

Yeah, can just picture laying(?) across the bed wearing a moth mask. Ha!

Yep. But it's so easy to make that sort of typo because spell check will not pick them up. The one I do all the time (to the extent that I've set up a specific correction in Word) is "fro" instead of "for".

Oh dear! That would have had me scratching my head for sure. *g* Typos can really sneak under the wire with the most unintended consequences.

Yeah, they can. And often at the most embarrassing moments. I'm a twitter addict and one of my most liked tweets had a typo. So shamed.

Unfortunately, it's almost quarter to one (a.m.) here, and I just got a fit a giggles. Yes, that's a really good one there.

In regards to your, 'fro' vs 'for', another common one it 'Brian' vs 'Brain'. Somebody sent me about 15 old stories a week ago, and lordy, let me tell you. Between NO punctuation at the end of sentences, sentences NOT staring with a capital letter, they almost drove me crazy reading them. I think I spent more time correcting them, than reading. And some of them were from well-known authors in the fandom.

Thanks for the chuckles. Good to hear from you. I've been reading your one shots in the Homecoming Universe. Even copied and pasted them, so I have them for the future.

Hugs to you,

Cathy

Oh, God! The Brian/ Brain thing drives me crazy. If you use word, you can set an auto-correct for it (I mean, how often are you going to want to type "brain" with a capital letter?) so I don't know why people just don't do that. It doesn't take "brian" surgery LOL.

OH MY GOODNESS, WREN!!! Did you read the story? I didn't, but I just googled "Macrolepidoptera' and here's what it means:

Macrolepidoptera is a group within the insect order Lepidoptera. Traditionally used for the larger butterflies and moths as opposed to the "microlepidoptera", this ...

Do you think she actually meant MOTHS??? Now I'm really laughing hard. People are trying to sleep here, and I'm losing it.

I think the original was just a typo. She seems to have meant "months". There was no mention of moths in that original story.

(The typo alone gave me several ideas/ images - one of Justin in a really stunning moth mask, and another where he had a huge moth tattoo on his arm - kind of where Randy's tat is - of a beautiful, surreal, black and purple moth.)

But I suspect that the second author had seen the summary and, after the same kind of thoughts, had written her own story - which certainly does mention moths.

Isn't there some weird sic-fi movie called "The Moth Men"?

Gael, you horror! I tried to ignore this, but finally had to go to IMDB to check. Found two or three "The Mothman". As well as "The Mothman Prophecies".
