Well, it is. And while I completely agree that Brian would make a very sexy vampire (and so would Justin, come to think of it), I don't much want them to be turned into undead creatures of the night. Too depressing. Think of how much Brian enjoys his tanning sessions.

It brings to mind too many painful "Carol/Randall" associations!

Yep. Although I'm just about over all that to the point where I can read "Randall's" stuff again.

And I've lost count of how many Angel or True Blood crossovers there are.

The True Blood ones are a real turn off for me because I don't even find Alexander Skarsgård in any way attractive. He gives me the creeps to be honest, so fics where Brian lets him have first taste of Justin simply make me sick to my stomach.

Unfortunately not awash in good ones. ;)

It's absolutely everything you said. Wow. Somehow I'd missed Mary Coughlan, entirely.
I was just sure this had to be written by Leonard Cohen. I was surprised to see that it was by Sting. Another favorite.

As for vampire stories, I remember one B/J that starts: "The first one he came for was Justin." I read it and thought, "Of course, it was." I can't remember one other detail of the story. I'm not sure I even read it the rest. It's been a long time. But that line has stuck with me.

So, thank you so much for sharing this song and this singer.

Thank you. I simply fell in love with this cd and it has seen me through some very dark times.

It's such a mix - the first track "A Thrill's a Thrill" is another very Brian track in some ways.

"You can live in your head, or you can live in your heart,
But if you don't live at all, then why the Hell did you start?"

And "Veil of Midnight Blue" has one of my favourite lyrics:

"But he's so patient and kind
He's prepared to read your mind
That's very well till you find
Because of the wine you drank
Your mind is still a blank"

Sting, Elvis Costello, Sam Cooke and Cole Porter - all with that husky blues voice and an Irish accent - what's not to like?

Thanks, C. Like I said, my take was that I was meant to find Mary Coughlan. I don't know if you had anything like the Age Green guide back in the day. It was printed on green paper and came with the paper every Thursday; it had the TV and radio guides for the week, some reviews of new shows and a few of new music. This was the only music review I ever read there. Seriously. I have no idea what made me read it, but I did and something about the review made me go out and get the cd immediately. I took it with me on a trip to the UK later that year and I have a vivid memory of driving through the Cottswolds on a beautiful autumn evening with that CD playing. At one point a whole chain of hot air balloons floated above the road in front of me, outlined against the setting sun. And all the time that wonderful sax and her husky, persuasive voice. It was magic.

Last Monday we did our once-a-year Irish Night at The
Root, place in Cleveland we usually play out. Pretty decent
turn-out. Did all the faves!

There's an Irish band based out of Cleveland called Brigid's Cross that I absolutely love.

Have to check them out. I have to admit my love of Irish music came up against my dislike of over-produced pap when I got lured to a Celtic Woman concert (I think of them as kind of a female Irish version of the sort of homogenized, pasteurized, generally neutered "music" pumped out by the likes of Andre Rieu). But I'm usually fair open-minded about musical styles.

Oh yeah, they're definitely not that. They aren't famous, but they're amazing.
