Equus...

...is getting to me more than I thought...well perhaps 'getting to me' is not the right phrase. I suppose the best way to put it is that it is striking chords with me that I had buried for a long time, and don't want to confront ( Read more... )

I understand, except my directions were numerous--theatre, history, english, psychology, or music.

I love theatre, it's great, but I just don't have the drive for it--it doesn't excite me like I thought it did, hence my change in major. History and English are great, I love them both, and everytime I hear any kind of good music, especially on an oboe, my heart melts and I say, "why isn't that me playing it?", but then again I realize that whereas they may all excite me, the practical one is good....

I understand what you are saying, and Im not telling you that you should stay with theatre or leave it, becuase thats a decision that only you can make, but just because you are a theatre major doesn't mean that you can't appreciate music and art too...and the reason you dont hunger for more knowledge with paint/construction now is because you're good at the methods GTA has taught you...you know it, so what else is there to learn at GC?

Good luck<3.

I've felt the same way.
And then I think about what my life would be if I didn't have theatre. And I realize that that life isn't what I want either. It's just so much commitment & sacrifice that we all feel like we should be absolutely, die-hard sure, so when we're not we assume we don't love it like everyone else.
But, I bet everyone goes through this time. Just take it where it leads you... mine isn't even over yet & it has already lead me to accepting the wardrobe head position for Equus. I think that I'm running the show for a reason too. I was just thinking about that tonight, actually. Weird.

Tell me about it, sweetie. I quit after my junior year because theatre had crowded everything else out of my life. But when I came back to finish my degree; when I look back at the things I accomplished in theatre; and when I think of where I am now, this is what I know theatre has given me ( ... )

P.S.-Theatre is like ice cream for me. I load myself up on it until I'm overstuffed and sick to my stomach, then swear it off for a while, and then shortly start to miss it so much that life is almost unbearable. Talk about your co-dependency problems....

Don't even think that. Even if you never did theatre again, you gained much in the way of friends and experiance. Besides, its a common thing, a really small percentage of people actually do in real life what their college degree prepared them for.
