Freshers Week

Oct 01, 2004 15:52

Next week, I become what is commonly known as a "fresher". As far as I know, this week of my life should be dedicated to meeting people and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Does anyone have any advice or interesting stories to share?

You don't have to drink too much.
Also be wary of drinks being bought for you by strangers, as one of my flat mate's drink got spiked and another one might have been spiked too.
Rememember if wantt o leave early, either get a taxi or other people to leave with you and walk back!

So glad i finally have the net now!

drinks in bottles are always better cos you can cover the top with your thumb easily. however what ying said about not going out too much in her post i think isnt true
you HAVE to go out. even if you don't stay for that long, we've done a couple of nightsout as a whole building (36 of us) going for a meal at a studenty cheap place then off to a bar then club which gave everyone the oppertunity to socialise and worked quite well we also set up a public album on photobucket.com so we can all see photos of freshers nights which has been good!
Anyway
Better go

I spent most of Freshers week bonding with my housemates, not really going out that much but having much fun all the same. It's a good time because you canjust go up and talk to anyone you think looks interesting without them thinking your a bit odd! There are so many things people say you "should" be doing, like going out every night, drinking loads. Those things can be fun, but just do what you feel comfortable with. Don't worry too much about it, just have fun whatever way you feel is best!

Yes, my post was partly tongue-in-cheek, I'm not worried about what I "should" be doing, was just interested in hearing about some first-hand experiences. I think perhaps I'm at a disadvantage not going into halls, and therefore not having house-mates to bond with, that's why I was wondering what people would advise. You're right though, it is a time for talking to many random people and finding who's most interesting!
