I think in asian culture, they are very strict to position level, from what I've seen, almost all the teachers in asian countries are being refer to as "XXX-sensei", but in US, it's completely optional, it really depends, some people prefer to be called by their first name, but someone prefer to be called "Mr. XXX" or "Mrs. XXX"(I had a professor like that), so based on that, I adjust to how I will call them. But if I go back to my own country one day and visit all my teachers, I will still call them sensei, there's just no way I can call them by their name, it just doesn't feel right to do it in that culture. I think for you, depending on what your student used to call you, they will always call you by what you wish them to.

Thanks for the insight! If that's the case, then my elementary school students will call me "Andy-sensei" and my junior high school students will call me "Andy" in the future. :)
