IN POSSESSION:
Attorney's Badge: "My prized attorney's badge. Nobody would know I'm a defense attorney without it."
Magatama: "Allows me to see Psyche-Locks. A little weaker in the Nexus, though."
Storeroom Record: "It states that a full 4 spoons of helleborcin extract disappeared approximately 13 days prior to the murder attempt."
READ Helleborcin Extract: "A poison that can change into two different kinds of crystals when distilled; one happens to be very sweet."
PEOPLE OF INTEREST:
Erasmus: "My client. A total tree nerd. Currently the prime suspect in the attempted assassination of the Empress of Aristan."
Luc: "Erasmus's bodyguard, whether he likes it or not. One-armed due to an incident a while back. We met in the Nexus."
Pat: "One of Lady Aurelia's personal guard. My escort around Arista."
Lady Aurelia: "Erasmus's aunt. One of the first to find the Nexus. She's the one who has provided me the dispensation to defend Erasmus."
Councilor C. Olivius Crassus: "A councilor of Arista. Poisoned with the same bottle of raisinwine that poisoned the Empress, but to a lesser degree."
Juliana: "The Empress's friend and aunt-in-law of Erasmus. Brought the cider that everybody else drank."
Councilor Gemellus: "A relatively new figure to the court. Supposedly not attentive to detail."
Dom: "Guard and Official Taste Tester. Tasted the wine, but did not get sick."
Quin: "The guard who watched over Erasmus the night before the incident. Says nothing of note occurred."
Olivia: "Erasmus's assistant. Gave the missing dose to a woman named Tullia."
"Tullia": "The unknown recipient of the missing helleborcin dose. 'Tall, round, and wears her hair up' is all I have on her."
Wine Merchant: "Erasmus's regular supplier of raisinwine. Says Erasmus had bought the last bottle available prior to the luncheon."
PERSONAL NOTES:
- The murder attempt is unusual for Arista; murderers are usually more direct.
- A dose of the poison went missing a couple weeks before the incident; Erasmus says it's enough to kill a woman the Empress's age.
- Crassus watered down his wine -- why?
- Cider brought to the luncheon; all but Crassus and the Empress drank it.
- The jar was supposedly sealed up to the point of the luncheon, but is apparently tamperable.
- If jar not tampered: would have to have been poisoned when sold to Erasmus. PROBLEM: Taster tasted it, but was not affected. Taster was affected, but has a strong immune system, and flavor was diluted.
- Erasmus stated Luc was watching him overnight, but Luc states he'd taken over from Quin in the morning.
- Quin reports nothing out of the ordinary the night before, and Erasmus himself remained asleep.
- The last bottle of raisinwine was bought by Erasmus. It can't be coincidence.
- Olivia jumped the gun on practical tests of Erasmus's abortion drug and provided 4 spoons to "Tullia" -- a lethal dose.
- Tullia is apparently a common name. Pseudonym, or just bad luck?
- "Cowardice is contagious?" It probably means nothing...
- Juliana always brings something to luncheons.
- Councilor Crassus does not usually drink raisinwine, but for some reason did that day.
- Councilor Crassus is inclined towards heavily watering red wines, and watered the raisinwine about the same amount.
- Helleborcin can be distilled to make two forms: one sweet, one bitter.
- Naming structure in Arista sticks to families (Olivia/Olivius?)
- Juliana wanted to bring raisinwine, but it was all gone.
- Olivia is Crassus's second cousin.
- Crassus is married to a woman named Tullia.
