I'm very late to this and don't feel like I have a ton to say except yeah, what they said.

Drafts and drabbles and starts for dozens of stories that haven't gone anywhere? Check.

Fear of failure? Check.

Cutting out HUGE portions because yeah, no, that's not how that person would actually react/that's not what needs to happen there/that belongs in that other story? Check.

Complete inability to write even passably the first time through? Check. The novel I just finished took 3 or 4 passes to even land me with a complete first draft.

Everyone's process is different. That's the beauty and the agony of art. No one else can create your story/picture/song/whatever, because no one else is you or would approach it in quite the same way. You've gotten this far and that's something to be proud of. Don't be afraid to change it, but don't be afraid to love it, either.

Congrats on revising the NANO! Don't give up. Keep plugging along. I've heard that real writing is revising so you and your book are about to get even more intimate. Just don't treat it as once-beloved boyfriend who ends up having some annoying habit. Stick with it! Good luck:)
