I am re-reading this because I did something sort of dumb (I may have signed up for 1sentence. Sigh) and wanted to read some examples of how to write it so I do it correctly. Then I noticed that I had never actually commented to this! OH NO!
I am amazed at how you manage to tell fifty stories in fifty short and concise sentences. I like that you pick out the most important ideas and words and squeeze them into well-formed sentences (I started mine and it's already full of rambly, run-on sentences. Muahaha.) - I mean, I don't even follow this fandom, but I really liked that.
My favourite is the last one. It's kind of quiet and sad yet oddly hopeful. Well done!
I'd actually like to do 1sentence again, although not during school because I got obsessed and worked on this for three or four hours instead of an essay that was due. Tips: apparently the words do not have to be in the order presented (although, like a fool I left mine that way and then tried to make a chronological story!), and the semicolon is your best friend.
Thank you for the review - you always leave the best feedback. Ever thought about being an English teacher?
I think you should do it again, just 'cuz. I love that I'm writing mine instead of the challenges I have due in under a week. Huh. And yes, semicolons are my best friends: so are dashes and colons. Whee! Also, I am sort of cheating: I decided that they're going to be fifty slices of life, so then I can make it go all over the place!
N'aw. I don't think that's a very good idea: I'm not very good at giving criticism, constructive or negative. Huh. Luckily, you've got a way of making things fit and work when you write, so that I don't have to be!
So, I just got out of the shower and I was thinking about this, and I had another idea instead that will take a super long time but that might mean a lot of Canadian Idol stuff coming from me if I ever get down to it. And basically, I now totally want to. Also, I can't wait to read yours!
And you know what, you're much better than you think you are. I always love getting comments on my stuff from you!
Today I rec'd someone to this writing journal of yours and felt like going through it again and reading.
How the fuck did I miss this?
I'm not a huge fan of John and I never will be. I understand him and I pity and admire him, but I don't like him. (But somehow I love him?)
But Mary - I know you only see her in like three episodes, and even then, barely, but...she's my favourite character after the boys. The thought of her, omg. Her and Jessica actually, I adore them both so much.
And I'm just in tears over this, because she packed him a fucking Hershey's kiss. Oh, my God. (What is her favourite book?)
And it breaks my heart that John's life has always been filled with war, and that the only thing that made him feel safe was her. And she was taken from him, and instead of sheltering her babies, he gave them the life that had scared her about him. "Eighteen is too young to go to war, John" - aslkdjfalksjf but his boys were just babies. Oh, my heart

First off, omg - you are my favourite for reccing me, thank you!
I think that's everyone's reaction to John, really. He's pretty detestable, but he's also [JDM] a vital part of the story. I'm also pretty damn fond of Jessica!
And I think I sort of made Mary this ideal, you know. She's the parts of me that I like (her sort of blind love of John is me) and then she's other parts that I don't, so much (always crying! whoever marries me is going to realize that he's married to a mess in point three seconds) and she's also all of these things that I wish I could be (her favourite book is On the Road by Jack Kerouac, and I tried in vain to read it because it's considered a great piece of American literature and I just think it's kind of BORING
