I saw The Young Victoria the other day at an arthouse theater near Lincoln Center. We were the babies of the audience; everyone else looked as though they knew Her Maj personally. ( We are amused! )

Today was my first day away from the hospital since January 3. Nothing spectacular -- I did a writeup and studied for the shelf -- but going down to Lincoln Center was a good idea. Coffeeshop studying is fun, when you have the right company. Should do this more often ( Read more... )

I do feel less annoyed about leaving early now that the snowstorm turned out to be legit. It's over two feet out here. Not shabby!

The problem with a black weekend (call Saturday, post-call Sunday) is that you have no idea what day it is. It's a little like being a kid on summer vacation, when the days just blend into each other, except you are at work and getting paid either less than minimum wage (my resident and interns) or paying for the privilege (yours truly). It's incroyable how much happier I am after just five days on medicine.

Today I took the WORLD'S SLOWEST A TRAIN to the library on 42nd/5th to get some work done. Aside from the hour commute each way, it was most productive. Lunched in Bryant Park -- the rink is open and the holiday market's in full force. Evidently it's almost winter, or
