I've always had the philosophy that there is nothing drugs/drink can do to me that I can't do with my own mind. Might take longer to reach a disassociative state, or relax, or get all hyped up, but it's possible.
'Course a lot of the books I read have romanticized mind altering substances, which makes me curious. But certainly booze isn't all that amazing. "This is what people ruin families for?" I asked myself during my first ever buzz.
And that is the sad part, not just the physical effects, but the psychological addictions that aren't completely merited. If it's necessary to have a good time, if your first thought when doing something is how intoxicated you're going to be during it, you should rethink your life values.
