Horror vs. Gore

I was wondering something while I was on the way home today.

Has watching people become more of a fad than ever/

I ask cause I found out in a Combichrist song they use samples from "The Suicide Club."

Japanese horror isn't all that awesome for me, the few films I've seen. I liked the American "The Ring" better than the Japanese, which pains me to say. Both were psychological types, but the Japanese didn't hit the creepy points in me like the American version did. Just a cultural thing, probably.

Gore is pretty big in some Italian films. Fulci and Argento, both with cult followings, put out a slew of gore-tastic horror films, so it's not just an American thing. But it is a big staple ( ... )

Thank you, cliche was the word I was looking for.

Also I found both versions of the Ring very bad and poor. Also I've never seen Italian films, I just picked Japanese and American cause I know the cultural differences very well and so it makes more sense cause I get a lot of the references.

American horror films are all terribly the same now that it's not even the buck to rent them at The Redbox. They even took the psychological out of it so it's like you could have a conversation while watching the movie and still can tell someone what it's about cause of the preview.
