I know I said I'd have something intelligent or witty to say this month re:meta/headcanon, but I don't. Right now I am just not in the frame of mind to do basically anything productive. Even now I'm not feeling well enough to express all my concerns as precisely as I'd probably like to.

May I ask what you mean by "gamer culture"? Do you mean the stat-vs-story thing that people are always talking about in FE fandom, or is this people disdaining gamers in some other way?

I apologize if I've ever made you feel this way re: FFN generalizations. I could explain my opinions about fic quality and where they come from, but the fact remains that not everyone who puts their fic up on the archive is bad at writing, which makes the generalizations really unfair.

Yeah, in this case I was referring more to the stats-vs-story issue. Just the idea that it's perfectly okay to not give two figs about the gameplay aspects and just enjoy the story, but it isn't acceptable when reversed bothers me. I mean, it isn't an incredibly common sentiment here, but I have seen it in places, mostly in the context of "stats people and their debates are so shallow." (although, predominately on the anon meme, which of course has a rep for breeding that sort of wank)

Also, don't worry about it :) I mean, I do understand all the arguments about ff.net (and other FE fansites, etc.) wrt demographics and quality, and that's perfectly fine; I dunno, I guess I just think that when talking about other segments of the fandom, often people tend to be a bit less...tactful, I guess?

Again though, maybe it's just me being overly sensitive.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Like I said, this all might just be me being overly sensitive at hearing this stuff over the course of time.

Ideally, everyone would just shrug it off and then we'd all go back to our little corners sequestered from the other parts of the fandom. In a way, that's kind of sad, but most people on both sides seem to have a generally low opinion of the other to begin with. Ah well.

Personally, that would make me a pretty happy man. Sure, as you say, it may not be ideal, but there are worse things than living and let living. ^^
