Looking at my journal, it seems the last time I posted was the third of April. This seems like a very long time ago indeed, despite having only been 2 weeks ago. So much has happened in that two weeks though, I think I can be forgiven for thinking what a long time it has been.
A week ago today, we were... well, here at home, I think. But most of the day was spent in rehearsal, first with the orchestra in a village hall, and then in the theatre itself for the tech. For Mikado, our tech went on until 11 or so, but this year we got out relatively early - mostly thanks to starting at six. I think we were done by nine thirty, which was nice. But before that we had been busy too. Tuesday the sixth and Wednesday the seventh were rehearsals, Saturday was our break, and then we were into it with a vengance. I spent most of the days this past week sleeping a great deal, often with curlers in my hair. We, as rapturous maidens from the 1880s, needed to have curly hair, and my hair doesn't hold a curl well. So I got up early, showered, applied copious amounts of mousse, and stuck hot curlers in my hair. They lived there until right before I went to the theatre (or in some cases, got taken out there), with the result of beautiful bouncy ringlets all week. I must say I do look good with curly hair, but I did get tired of wearing curlers all week long.
The show itself was stunning. Visually, we had amazing costumes, and a fabulous set. Sound wise, the music was beautiful and well performed. The acting was good, and we all had a good time - and it showed. I think the adrenaline (and a little Lucozade) was really all that kept me going, especially towards the end. Saturday was the worst, with me feeling about 3 times my age by the evening performance. I'm harboring serious doubts about doing the show next year. Still, I really enjoyed myself and am glad I didn't pull out of this year, despite the hardships.
I've also got my referral to the CFS clinic at Frenchay hospital now. My appointment is the 11 of May (our anniversary - such a romantic date) which Adrian will take me to. Getting a bus to Frenchay is all but impossible. I'm really hoping I can get some good advice and start towards a regime that will help, because right now my quality of life is pretty poor.
Other than that, I'm knitting a jumper now, and looking forward to some time off. I'm part of a choir for a concert Eric is doing in the summer, but we have a month before rehearsals for that kick off, so for now it's just going to be R&R
