 I am a Freecycle enthusiast. Freecycle, for those of you who don't know, is a group of people in an area who form a listserv and advertise for things they don't want - to get rid of - or things they do want. You give stuff away for free instead of throwing it in a landfill, and if you're after something, you see if anyone has it and doesn't want

I'm interested in apple butter! Any chance of the recipe if it's not a family secret?

You could use the jars to do something like preserving pears in brandy or something. I'd suggest making bath salts but a pint jar might be a bit too big for an elegant gift!
