This is so incomplete, it's not even funny. When I started this, I was going for salaryman!Tottsu getting picked up by Kitayama on the street. I haven't quite decided if Mitsu is a prostitute or seriously just trying to pick up Tottsu... I never made it far enough into the story for it to really matter.
Also, I'm hoping Tottsu's never stated that he hates beer or something. I honestly have no idea about Ebi and drinking since I don't read their articles. I would happily accept information and stories should you have some.
”I can make it worth your while,” Kitayama whispers against Totsuka's lips before getting up to lead the way.
[Earlier that evening…]
Totsuka sets his beer glass back down on the table. He hasn’t had enough to be drunk, but he’s finally starting to get buzzed and he could not be more thankful. He could just get drunk, he muses, lifting the glass back up for another gulp. Since it’s Friday night, he doesn’t have to worry about having a hangover at work...and it’s not like he has any plans for the weekend.
He downs the rest of his beer at that thought and orders another. Usually, he’d spend the weekend with his boyfriend, but since that boyfriend is now his EX-boyfriend, he’s got nothing to do but maybe stay in and read.
Totsuka considers himself to be just a normal guy, with a normal job...and okay, maybe he doesn’t live the most glamorous life in the world, but he really doesn’t know what his ex wanted from him. In the text message breaking up with him, Totsuka had been called "boring", his ex saying that he needs more "excitement" that what Totsuka can provide.
So what if every morning he wakes up and puts on his suit before making his commute to work? So what if he spends his day plugging information mindlessly into the computer system, staying late beyond the contractual work hours because that’s what everyone else in his section does? Who cares if he just goes home after work?
Okay, maybe his life is a never ending routine of normal, or as his as-of-today-ex would say, "a never ending cycle of BORING BLAH."
Totsuka sighs heavily. He chugs the rest of his beer and decides to head to another bar, possibly one closer to where he lives just in case he needs to crawl his way home.
Heading towards the station, he’s just about to let out another long sigh when an attractive guy pokes his head into Totsuka’s face.
“You look like you could use some company,” he says with a grin.
Startled and not at all used to random strangers talking to him on the street, Totsuka stops and stares, blinks. “Excuse me?”
“You just finish work? What do you do?” the guy continues on, and although the entire situation is just a mystery to him, Totsuka finds himself following the guy to sit on a nearby bench, and it’s not long before they’re talking as if they’re known each other forever. The guy’s name turns out to be Kitayama and he listens intently while Totsuka tells him about his ex.
“I don’t know if it ended because I didn’t put in enough effort, or if I didn’t put in a lot of effort because I knew it wasn’t gonna last,” Totsuka admits, shoulders sagging with another sigh.
“Way I figure,” Kitayama says, pulling his legs up onto the bench and crisscrossing them so he can sit more comfortably, “is that if the guy were worth it, you’d have put in the effort. If you were meant to be together, you would be. Or something like that.” He laughs a bit at the end as if he’s suddenly embarrassed by what he’s saying, but a slow smile spreads across Totsuka’s face.
“No, you’re right. We weren’t a good match.” He takes a deep breath and when he releases it, he feels lighter. “Thanks. I feel a lot better.”
“I’ve only known you for about an hour, but as far as I can tell, you’re far from boring. And,” Kitayama adds, leaning in closer, “you’re cute.”
Totsuka’s eyes widen and his gulp is audible. There's something in the way Kitayama looks at him that makes him tingle with heat. When Kitayama leans in even closer to lightly brush their lips together, it's Totsuka who reaches up to pull him in to deepen the kiss. He has no idea what's come over him, but Totsuka's the one who suggests that they take this somewhere more private.
Kitayama grins, eyes full of promise as he whispers how Totsuka won't regret this. Totsuka really can't see how he could. He feels more attraction to this man than he'd ever managed to feel for his ex. Wherever they're headed, he really hopes they get there soon.
