Aaand continuing in the streak of non-Johnnys fic. :x Sorry.

Enough time spent in Korea-speaking Korean, eating Korean food, watching Korean TV-and a person could almost turn Korean. Lu Han certainly felt plenty Korean; he even had a Korean boyfriend.

Unlike Wu Fan, unlike Yixing, unlike Zitao, Lu Han hadn't gone to Korea because it was a major stop on the road to realizing his dreams of being an idol musician. He'd gone because, out of a choice of some 10 countries he could have studied abroad in, he'd been unequivocally attracted to Korea. Oh sure, his attraction to the country had started out with Choi Jiwoo and Song Hyegyo like all the rest of China, but it had expanded with time and experience to more intimate, personal things like his favorite jazz club in Hongdae, the ahjumma who presided over the pojangmacha around the corner from his apartment, ShingShing gum, and Oh Sehun.

Which is why the war tears him apart more than it does the others.

When the first nuclear missile had detonated in the Yellow Sea just 20 miles out from Incheon and the UN had determined that it had, indeed, been launched out of Pyongyang, Zitao had hightailed it out of Korea. Qingdao, after all, was right across the pond. It wasn't many days before Yixing was gone too, responding to the motherland's call to arms. And then Wu Fan-Kris, no, Kevin-had left for Canada, opting to be the Switzerland of EXO, or what used to be EXO, rather than choose sides.

Lu Han had stayed in Korea the longest, torn between mind and heart, trying to delay the inevitable for as long as possible. He'd stayed as long as he could, hoarding the days of peace, because he'd known that in the end he'd have to go back to China (not "home," not anymore) and pick up an AK-47 and a set of standard issue army fatigues ("to serve the people").
