He cleared his throat. “I take it that things didn’t work out between you two then?”
Adrien looked at him as if he wasn’t certain Nicholas’ neurons were firing correctly. Nicholas just looked back at him gamely.
“…we were together for six months, and then we broke up.”
“May I ask why?” Now would be a good time to know if Thai-but-Chinese-looking guy had dumped his Not-Date because he’s a sociopath with as many issues as Michael Jackson, may he rest in peaceful sterility.
“He’s a male stewardess,” Adrien said in a seeming non sequitur.
“I think the proper term nowadays is ‘flight attendant,’” Nicholas chimed in.
“It’s not that I begrudge him the occasional fling,” Adrien continued as if he hadn’t been interrupted, “but when he fucked the pilot of the plane I was a passenger on, I had to break it off.”
Nicholas’ eyes widened.
“I have anxieties about flying and he wasn’t helping matters,” he said dryly.
