Writing is pretty eh, though I did get my Heart of Gold chappy done fairly quickly.

I like quiet, but that rarely happens in this household. For those that don't know I have 5 kids from ages 16 down to 4. It can be chaotic at times. LOL. I write both long hand and typing in, depending on my schedule. No special room because when I leave my desk they all follow me anyway. I use the soundtrack of my life known as 'shut up for a few minutes will you? Must you talk all the time?' LOL

Actually my favorite place/way to write is in the car on a notepad while waiting for my kids, usually with the rock station KRXO OK City blaring loudly.

I used to hole up in little coffee shops in a small town where I worked -- I'd take my lunch and write whatever (essays, fanfic, original fic) in the little notebook in teh back of my day planner. Then, I'd have to go home at the end of the day and try to decipher what I'd come up with. It was, all in all, pretty darn entertaining.

I like to have instrumental music playing. Lyrics are distracting, unless they are in a foreign language. Fortunately, between MiAmor and I, the household has an enormous selection of lounge, world, bossa nova, and jazz to choose from. I'm not sure classical/symphonic music would do the trick, although I love it, because it's perhaps too complex. Right now, I keep going to Tipsy for the writing time.

My writing progress has been on the zilch side, which is never a good thing when you're writing on deadline. I've been sick on and off for nearly a month now and the last few days I've been feeling really wreched and tired. It's pretty much impossible for me to write tired. Awareness and concentration are key, so I'm thinking I need to shake my bug before my productivity increases. I also haven't felt very inspired to write either, though I know my plot, so I guess it could be that, too ( ... )

That sounds like me exactly, only without the deadline! Although I can't really blame the not writing on being sick, since I wasn't writing way before that started.

Went to the doc today and they gave me a 5-day cycle of antibiotics. They think I might have had pneumonia, but that's all speculative. Here's hoping my buggy is gone for good by next week. *fingers crossed*

Not feeling my fake-o unwritten story prompt, hm? Unless you were saving the best for last...

You should give me one! It's lots of fun. I responded to deird1 with a pretty cool idea. Gonna try to get another two up before I go out to dinner with my bud.

Heh, I win. I got a 10-day cycle of antibiotics. :) But I hope both our buggies are gone by next week.

I'll get around to you, don't worry. I've been doing them in no particular order - well, in the order I come up with something brilliant, I suppose. But I'll do 'em all eventually!

I write on my laptop. Prefer writing alone, though I've written with my roommate in the same room. Music helps me get into the right frame of mind. I like it to set a tone. If I'm writing an amped up fight scene, I want music with that energetic, violent feel. If I'm writing romance, same goes. Lyrics don't matter, because once I get in the zone, the outside world fades away. But the mood music still helps me tap into the mood I'm shooting for.

I finally started the first scene in my long-and-plotty fic... and stopped again almost immediately, because those first few sentences promptly decided to go in a completely different direction to what I had planned, and now I need to work out a whole lot of plot before I keep writing!
I wish my stories would occasionally do what I want...

I tend to write on the train, mostly because it's the only time of day I have time to write and nothing else to do.

I take it you commute by train? Do you have a hook up for a lap top while you're doing this, or is it all long hand? That sounds like a great way to take some time for your creative side...

Definitely long hand. I can't think creatively when I'm typing.
