I'm kidding (sort of…), but seriously, you should take WriMo as an opportunity to work on the story. 50,000 words in 30 days means you're going for quantity, not quality. The best thing about that is if the whole thing turns out crappy, you can blame it on the time and not any shortcoming of your writing :P

Your story sounds really cool, and I'd love to offer help if you do decide to bring it here. Do as much research as you can before plunging in. I'm not a 14th century Malian mystic, so I know I can't be "authentic", but I'm going to do my utmost best, and try to get different eyes to vet it for me.

I've seen fake cuts used for LJ WriMo posts before, so that should work.
