I posted this because people need to realize that they don't "own" anything simply because they are part of fandom.I finally talked to my dad and found out what the family "brand" is. You read my mind! I actually have a half composed update on this very same topic and I was going to put it up with my next picspam I'm organizing. The spam is of uber hires SPN promo stuffs, and well no watermarks from me. Just cos I have them and am exposing them to the public (which is also, er, illegal) does not make them MINE and I won't have other people taking these pictures from me, only to watermark and suposedly 'copyright' them to their sites. It's not on, they didn't take the damn photo

It's funny because it was actually a low res picture of a scan of an article of Jared's that I saw today that finally got me to write this. I just WTF? at that one.

She's so nice to share them too. She doesn't have to and she did anyway. I know there was some problems from our favorite trouble maker taking people's ComicCon pictures without permission and posting them in her community. She doesn't get why it's not okay to do that, even if you say where you got them from.

Oh God, screencaps. Don't get me started. I do screencaps for norman_daily so I know how much work it takes. It's a bitch to wade through ten thousand pictures and erase the blurry and upload the good. I still don't watermark or ask for credit 'cause um... hello? Not my work!

I have to say she did that with me at Asylum too - actually, I had been given permission by the aunt of wee!Sam that got up on stage with Jensen on the Sunday to post the picture of wee!sam and his bro with Jensen. And Miss TroubleMaker asked me if she could re-post and I told her she couldn't cos I hadn't been given permission to allow that, but she could direct folks to my LJ instead. And she took the pic and posted it. I was just... guh. I didn't say anything though, I left it alone. But, it was so rude.

Wee!Sam was just about the cutest thing ever! I'm sorry she stole your picture. You know if someone came in and took her pictures she'd be starting the biggest wank war we'd ever seen. :(

I fully agree on everything, specially with the whole Lis thing now, it was so nice of her to share them! Been dying to see them!
I talked to her before she put them up about watermarkinging them and all because she was scared to share them because of what might happen to the pics.
I had the same thing happen with people taking my pics and just posting them everywhere and making icons of it without asking me..(pics of Jared & Jensen in NYC before the WB morning news) that kinda pissed me off.

You have every right to be pissed. Those photos are your intellectual property. It's really frustrating trying to get people to realize that they need to treat other peoples photos the same way you would treat someone else's story.

They are cute huh? :) its so good to see more people out that like Danneel too because dude, its like she's being ignored in some places! ...

I've even been called a bully by someone on a certain comm for asking people to stop using the icons that were made out of my pics.....(and...yes, this is hillarious....and totally off-topic....also been called a bully for liking Danneel..)

but when I said that they were my pictures and that I didnt want people using them the following was said: ' that's the way fandom works' well....ITS NOT! I shared them for fans to SEE, i didnt have to but was nice enough to do so. It just makes you very careful with stuff....

I've seen the Danneel hate and it blows my mind. I've never seen her in anything (well, except Clownana, but I don't think that counts LOL) but from what I've heard about her she seems like a sweet girl. It's stupid to hate a person because she's dating your t.v. boyfriend.

Just because some people *coughcough* think that that's how fandom works doesn't make it right. All it does is cause what is starting to happen now. People are having to watermark photos that everyone would have been able to enjoy clutter free before. That or not share them at all and then everyone loses.

i never copywrite pics i've posted - i credit where i got them from. but it's really sad when people do have to put watermarks all over their pics - see my most recent post at my LJ too.....
