This makes my heart ache. It's like... something is bound to break, something is teetering, about to fall, and it's inevitable. You convey all the complicated emotions here so well, it feels very real, the choice Elizabeth has to make and the difficulty she has making it. The dream is deliciously hot, too ;-) The writing is beautiful throughout, but I'll just quote a couple of things...

She ticks off her burdens on roughened fingers: twelve hours and one thousand, three hundred forty days wasted at the expense of her own joy, her life slipping away in swift strokes. That's painful.

...haloed in half-light beyond his sea-soaked lashes, the weight of the ocean still heavy beneath his ribs... Gorgeous rhythm here.

“Been ‘Bess’ in me head all this time, luv. And ‘Lizzie’. And ‘Doom’, in the mornin’. Now for the love of God, Elizabeth, tell me.”
“Yes. Please, yes.” *thud*

She stands bow-backed with her arms spread wide, the breeze anointing her skin in long, salty breaths, the air running through her splayed fingers like water between ( ... )

ah, such lovely writing. now i want to read more of your work. i've been reading a lot of piratemistresses fics lately, and i came across one of your comments, and just from that alone i came here and, just as i thought i would, i like your fic! and i bet i'll like the others too. ;-)
