The interview went swimmingly. He was so easy, very articulate, great musician. His guitar style is from ambient/"new agey" to jazz and rock. He taps the string with both hands, kind of a piano effect, which leads to a lot of musical flexibility. I'm a fan! Will try to catch his show this weekend.
And yeah, the place is quiet again. First order of business: take a nap (had to get up at 5:30 to go to the train station)... :-)
wish i could catch that show with you. i recently heard Brad Yoder in Boulder, a singer-songwriter type who used the string-tapping technique to great effect. check out http://payplay.fm/yoder99/mp3/1. "Not Setting the World on Fire" and "Hair Loss Blues" are favs of mine.
the occasion for my encountering Mr. Yoder was a concert in which Ars Nova and he participated, marking the opening of the Estill Voice Institute. i'd love to describe this method of vocal production to you in some other forum than an LJ comment: it's become a central aspect of Ars Nova's approach the past couple of years.
napping, eh? glad to see you have your priorities straight. :-)
