Disclaimer: I do not own any of these characters, they belong to J.K. Rowling. But quite modified in most cases... such as the Comstocks all coming from
trivalent's mind while Harvey is my own creation, based off of the bit J.K. told us about him.
The reason that he spent more time outside of the house than in it these days was not solely because of wanting to spend time with his new fiance, but because his mother was fussing so much over it that she was beginning to drive him insane. His father thought it was all amusing and did nothing at all to stop her. His only remarks had consisted of "well done" in various ways. Not that more had been expected of him. The elder Ridgebit had never hidden his belief that his only son needed to have been married for some time now. But when it finally happened... well, it was no matter. The various Comstocks were happy enough to make up for it. That may have been another reason why Harvey preferred to spend his time on the grounds of the Comstock estate.
The door opened to reveal one of Noire's older sisters. Harvey was relieved to see that it was Saffron. He was as sure that this sister liked him that he was that Dior did not. Funny, since that was who Beryl tried to get me interested in. It still made him smile to think of that. "Good day, Saffron," Harvey said as he bowed over her hand. "Might your beautiful sister be at home?"
Saffron quirked an eyebrow. "And which one of them are you wanting to see, Harvey? Because they're all beautiful." But of course, whether or not she liked him, Saffron could not make anything too easy on him. That just would not be like her... it would be as surprising as if Noire were to walk about smiling at everyone she saw. Simply unthinkable.
"The most beautiful of them of course," Harvey said with a smile, "and the only one I want to marry."
"That's a very smooth answer," Noire remarked as she stepped up beside Saffron. "Did you know I was standing right there?"
"No," Harvey answered honestly as he held his arm out to Noire. "I just answered as truthfully as I could."
He saw Saffron roll her eyes at him as he and Noire turned back towards the path he had just walked up, but he could also hear a sigh coming from beside the door. He glanced over his shoulder and shook his head when he saw Azura and Isolde, two of Noire's cousins, crouched there. "I want to be courted," Isolde was saying.
"We will be," Azura assured her. "When we're older... unlike Saffron."
"I'm not being courted because I don't want to be," Saffron informed her cousins as their conversation faded from hearing.
Harvey smiled down at Noire. "I think your cousins are jealous of you."
"Of course they are," Noire responded matter of factly as she looked up at him."Not every day that even a Comstock catches a dragon, after all."
