Astoria swirled her spoon around her bowl of cereal, not really paying it any attention. Her eyes were across the hall on where one of the blond Ravenclaws was slumped, head in hands as he stared at the Gryffindor table. Not that his looking there was a new thing, he had been doing that since first year, but he had never looked quite so sad when he did. A satisfied sort of remark caught her attention and she turned to look at one of her housemates. Druella Rosier, who was informing someone that she was certain that this time, her grandson would learn the difference between a proper girl and not. So it's her fault...

"Great-grandson, actually," Astoria corrected pointedly. "He's my son and I, for one, do not think that you have quite the right to do as you have been." She had meant to say it earlier, but it had not seemed a good idea. It had also never come up when she was around Druella, and she was not quite the sort to go looking for a fight.

"Then perhaps you should have taught him better to begin with," Druella said, "if you had then he would not lead lessons about staying away from the half-humans."

"I think that Dominique Delacor is better than quite a few of the choices he has here," Astoria countered coolly. "She comes from two Pureblooded wizarding families."

"Except for the Veela in her veins."

"That can be overlooked."

"If you approve of breeding with the inferior."

Astoria's eyes flashed and she stood, the handle of her wand warm against her hand as she stood on top of the bench. Her hands came to her mouth to make her voice louder as she declared to everyone in the Great Hall, "I AM GLAD THAT SCORPIUS MALFOY IS DATING DOMINIQUE DELACOUR!" The Hall went silent as Astoria sat back down and picked her spoon back up, returning to her meal as though everyone in the Hall were not staring at her as though she had sprouted a second head.
