Susan woke up to sunlight dancing across her eyelids. "Perfect," she yawned as she sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. It had been raining for the past week and it was starting to get depressing to wake up every morning to rain tapping at the window. Three days ago had been the day when she, Lorcan and Lysander were supposed to go looking for something - she could never keep straight which creature it was until the twins had moved onto something else - but it had been raining too hard. Today it looked like it would be the perfect day. It did not even take her five minutes to get dressed and out of the Hufflepuff den.
It was not too hard to get into Ravenclaw Tower, Lysander had been helping her with her riddles, and the only person in the common room was that Atia girl. "You're not supposed to be in here, you know," Atia remarked without looking up from her copy of Advanced Ancient Runes. There were not many people still in that class, and Susan had never even attempted to take it. It just did not hold any appeal.
"I need to get Lys," Susan said simply. "It's not like I'm going to steal the tiara." Not that it was even the real tiara, but Susan thought it would be too rude to say that. Instead she just turned to climb the stairs to the boys dormitory as she had done several times, still grateful that there was no spell to keep girls out of the boys rooms. One of her housemates had remarked on how unfair that was, only to be countered by Tonks pointing out that boys were more likely to sneak up than girls.
Unless it's me, Susan thought as she pushed open the door. Inside she could see all five boys still fast asleep, not that that was surprising on a Sunday. The black hair peeking out on the closest bed belong to Albus, and the boy snoring in the bed next to him was Scorpius... and there, in the bed on the far side of the room surrounded by clippings from The Quibbler was Lysander. "Lys," Susan whispered, shaking his shoulder. "Come on, wake up, it's a lovely day."
"Uh-uh," Lysander mumbled, waving a hand at her as he rolled onto his stomach. "Go 'way, mum."
Susan rolled her eyes and knelt on the bed to give him another shake. "I'm most certainly not your mother, Lysander Scamander, now open your eyes and get out of bed."
Lysander muttered something else, but did not roll over. Susan was just about to steal his pillow when she heard a wolf whistle from behind her. "Well look at that!" Scorpius declared, hair sticking up all over the place as he grinned at her from his bed. "Scamander had a bird in here while we were all asleep!" Albus sat up, hair even messier than Scorpius's, and started to laugh as Susan turned a brilliant shade of red. "See there, Al, called it."
"Wassit?" Louis asked, peering blearily at Susan. "How'd a badger get in here?"
"Lysander let her in," Albus replied, still laughing.
"You must've worn him out good too, Susan," Scorpius remarked as he stood up on his bed. "He's not even moving!"
"I don't like you right now, Malfoy," Susan informed the blonde coolly, still bright red. "Or Potter and Weasley for that matter." She glanced pointedly at the only boy other than Lysander who had yet to say something. "The only one I like is Davies and that's because he isn't saying anything!"
"If he was awake he'd be louder than us," Albus promised her. "Now come on, Susan, can't you be like everyone else and leave without waking the rest of us up? I don't want to show my boxers off today."
Susan glared at him. "I haven't been here all night, I just came in to get Lysander."
That was when Lysander woke up and rolled over, peering up at Susan with surprise clear in his eyes. "Oh, hullo Susan," he said, sitting up to give her a quick kiss on the cheek. "What're you doing here?"
