The neat thing was that she wasn't switching time periods at all, they were all at once, only different planets. They all resembled things that our planet could be though, not that it was meant to be a commentary on that.
I picked up the book because of the cover actually, lol...caught my eye.
Laurie told me more about the book since she'd read it when she was younger, and really liked it too. I must have been slacking since I'd never heard of it.
Laurie read the book not only when she was younger but older (much older, in decrepitude actually) as well because it made such an impression on her. Talking about myself in 3rd person makes me feel all queenly *g*

I think that must be a difficult thing for a writer to accomplish, switching between time periods while keeping it interesting for a reader.
