Excellent. With my pounding head, it's hard to give it the praise it deserves, but this rocked... I loved the beginning and the end, and all the character interaction in between!

Should have something for Joss100 before the end of the day, maybe.

Don't save the really stupid people, okay?

*flails* um. GUH is about all i can think of to say about that last bit. eek.

the mental image of River giving Jayne sponge baths..and the conversations that must have taken place between her and Simon before Simon gave up...HEE.

i love the part where River is talking for him to Kaylee. that worked very well.

YAY! Jayne isnt dead and SMUT! WHOO!

I had a whole long conversation between River and Simon plotted out about the sponge bath thing, but it just didn't fit. Made the story choppy and threw off the flow, so I ditched it. Just have to use your imagination, I guess.

I'm glad you like the River-Jayne / Kaylee convo - I had a hard time with that, wondering if I should keep it or change it or wait until the tube wasn't there....

And c'mon now...would I really kill JAYNE? *shakes head*

well, i probably would..so you might too.

literarylemming and i have a thing about killing off our favorite characters. she does it in evil creative ways where everyone goes insane.

i do it by feeding people to a giant man-eating orchid.

we all have our quirks.

LOL. All of a sudden I have several different songs from "Little Shop of Horrors" running through my head, along with the mental image of Steve Martin as the sadistic dentist. *giant man-eating orchid / snerks*

Actually, I might kill him off too - but not in this story. And certainly not before he gets some action, after being all patient and un-Jayne-like with River.

Mmm. Lovely ending. Figures neither of them could wait until he's fully reassembled before the hanky panky started.

But, for all of the yummy Rayne-ness going on, I can't get over Simon! It's just great that what makes him finally part of the crew isn't his position as doctor, or his relationship with Kaylee, but his acceptance of Jayne and River together. He even said "creepifying"! Not creepy, creepifying. Love it.

Now that the off-topic sqee is over, I leave you. Good job, as always.

Oh wow yeah, I hadn't even thought about how him saying "creepifying" instead of creepy was significant, but I have to second you on that one!

It's the little things that make the crew a family....hehe *headdesk at bad word play* I'm glad people notice him loosening up a bit - he hasn't lost any of his polish, of course, but he's not quite so...stiff and proper. I think that's how it would go too, with certain little terms and colliquialisms sneaking into his speech. He'll never drop his 'g's' though...

No, I can't imagine Simon ever dropping his G's. He's far too well-bred for that.
