The first fifteen can be found here: Big Damn Prompt Table #2

I’ve been reading and / or listening to a lot of Leonard Cohen lately, something I blame entirely on Lattelady6 and aliaspiral. Not that I don’t love Leonard Cohen, because I do, but both of these fine authors have written stories recently that strongly called a Cohen poem / song to my mind ( Read more... )

hehe. Don't be sorry. Leonard Cohen is a good thing! Where do you want me to send the mp3 by the way? I just need to transfer it and it will be ready.

Did you get it? I'm not sure if the attachment went out properly - I think I might have to zip it or something.

Awesome... I love the stones analogy and the imagery in this one!

That's beautiful.

Theirs is not an idealistic or a perfect love. They both have too many scars for that. What they do have is a love based on understanding and healing. They make each other better in so many ways, it's painful to watch Mal try and deny what they can be.

Here's hoping he sees the light soon.

Thank you - I think idealistic love is over-rated anyway, to tell you the truth. Because, once the bloom is off and you see the person you've fallen in love with - warts and all - can you still love them?

Wow. Thanks. *sheepish smile*

This really got me thinking. You've reminded how, even though he's always flaunting his 'Captain'ness, Mal makes it about his ship, about his desire for control and respect, but it's like he wants to push his past aside (not ignoring it, not denying it, just...aside, in a box). He must have felt very guilty (or maybe angry) over the status he gained during and after the war, but I'm sure eventually he would have found it useful to take advantage of sometimes, and clearly he loves the idea of being the lord of his domain when it comes to Serenity :).

And this thinking led me to an idea for a fanvid I wish I could make (but no software for it, plus a full-up hard drive, so maybe someone else will make this vid). I think Haunted (Tweaker remix) by Poe would so be perfect for a Mal, Mal/River, or a Firefly in general vid.

I need to get my bearings ( ... )

I have not heard that song, but I love the lyrics. I'll have to find it now!

And I agree with you about Mal - it think he's got some things buried so deeply he doesn't even want to acknowledge them at all, so they sit there and fester and change him, on the inside. Only someone who could see those wounds and heal them or help him carry them further would be the right type of person for him.
