So elections are coming up, and this is the first year I get to vote, so I want to make sure my decision is responsible and not partisan ( Read more... )

I mean, you could always vote independent/libertarian. That's what I'll probably do - I know that Barr won't win, but it's better than voting for Obama, who ALSO doesn't know a thing about the economy.

See, I've always felt that voting independent wasn't really doing any good because they never win, and it just made the race between the other two result in lesser numbers. Maybe that's the point though.

See, that IS true... but the thing is, if enough people vote Independent or Libertarian, that voice eventually gets heard. You know? So no, obviously Bob Barr's not gonna win... but I figure every little bit helps, and it's stupid to blindly submit to the two-party brainwashing that politicians have going on.

I've never really felt there's a point to voting for a candidate who's not likely to win. Sure, you get your voice heard, but it's only heard as part of the 3% of the population who didn't really influence the election. Our margins are so close these days that if those 3% had picked one of the mainstream choices, they could really have influenced who won. You might not have somebody who is 100% who you want, but you might as well cut your losses and pick the better of the two ( ... )
