Chopped off six inches of my hair, dyed it darker and redder, and now I have it styled completely differently from what it was. I'd say this would make it harder for people to find me at Comic Con, but you lucky bastards have never seen a picture of me, so everything's A-okay ( Read more... )

I'm a veteran of a medium-largish con, but this stuff applies to pretty much all of 'em. XD ( ... )

Wow, this is some useful stuff, thanks a bunch! I think I might have to do a touch of shoe shopping today, though, since my flat collection is pretty limited. (I wish I was joking about my wardrobe being 90% heels but, really, when I'm not at work and it's not super hot summer, I'm in them.)

I have a somewhat minimalist style, but my wardrobe is very much skirts and dresses more than anything else. Do you think knee-length, casual skirts and dresses will be all right, or should I just stick to jeans?

Oh shit, that also reminds me - do I need to worry about inappropriate behavior from con-goers?

NO HEELS. You will standing, walking all day. Tickets are already sold out, this place is going to be packed, you probably will not get to the exhibits/panels, bring your pocketbook. Keep it on you always. If you do want to see a panel, you might have to wait on line like 1-2 hours before it starts depending on the popularity. If it's really popular go to the panel BEFORE that panel and stay seated throughout the day until your panel. You will be hot, it will smell really BAD. And it's the freaking Javitts, the staff are morons, it's not understaffed, it's that they get power trips for everything con and expo that goes into there. Umm, also if you want autographs, GO FIRST THING. Those lines are like nothing at first and you think "oh I will go back". It takes like less than a hour to have MAJOR line. I always wtf at the size of the line.

Oh I just read the comment above, the ATMs usually don't run out, but there are pretty big lines for them, so bring lots of cash. I never heard of anyone getting pick pocketed or anything. NYC isn't as bad as people make it seem. It's the areas surrounding the city AT NIGHT, that you don't want to get caught in, you'll be raped and/or killed for breathing. Seriously places are like gotham at night. *windows up*

Well, I'm not really interested in autographs, so that's not a problem. Judging from a look at my general itinerary, I'm thinking that the panels I'm interested in won't be the CRAZY BUSY ones, just the "kind of crazy" big ones. You're not the first person to warn me about the lines, though, so I'll keep that in mind. I think I'm probably going to hit town and shop around for a small shoulder satchel, though, since I'd rather carry that than a conspicuous purse. (I really don't plan on bringing home too much swag. I just don't have the room in my apartment. :P ( ... )

I wish I could help, but I've never been to cons before myself. Super jealous! I hope you have fun!

Haha, well, this is my first very big convention. All the others I've been to were fairly small, so it's going to be an adventure at the least. Thank you very much, though. :)
