Just checked the dates for the 2013 PCAT, and fuck me, the deadline for early application was the 17th, not the 31st like I thought. That means I'd have to pay the late fees if I still want to do the test in July. I could wait and take the test in September, but that's an awful long stretch for me to lose motivation and not study for it. Fuck, I ( Read more... )

Hospital hours FTW. -_-; Yeah, doing mandatory swing shift is pretty much one of the most morale-busting things an employer can do. We've had a tech position open that's mandatory 2nd/3rd swing for almost two months now, and they wonder why nobody qualified has applied.

As much as it sucks to pay the extra money, IMO it's better in the long run to take any big exam while you are motivated and the material is fresh than to put it off. I know it's not quite the same thing, but a lot of our new hires have been burned because they put off taking the ASCP certification exam because it's too expensive (it is) and they end up failing because they get out of the habit of studying. Props to you for going for pharm though- it's a good job if you have the head for it. I personally did abysmally at the small pharmacology crash course I had to take.

I actually don't mind working night shifts, and part of why my schedule is a disaster right now is because I'm making the transition from full time night shift to a rotating shift schedule. I'm empathetic to the management how hard it must be schedule right now - on top of losing two full time night shift people, the department went and cut two full time and one casual position from us. It's still miserable as hell, though. Our company protocol requires schedules to be out a full month advance, but for the last 4-6 months, we've been getting them literally days before the new month starts, which contributes to more people leaving because for those with families or second jobs, how the hell are they supposed to plan everything out?

I did actually wind up signing up for the PCAT yesterday. Surprisingly, they didn't attach any extra fees, so I guess it's only if it's absolutely last minute? Ah well, I have until July to get myself together. Let's hope it goes better this time.

Hello, stranger.

What happened to you on AIM?

Hello, good sir.

Life is what happened to me. Between the insanity of my hospital's schedule agonies and the last of my pre-pharm classes, I've just been too exhausted to do anything online but browse around. Even the LJ has only been updated sporadically over the past few months. I'll try to start getting back on occasionally.

How have you been?

I am good!

That was honestly the first time I'd been on L.J. since early 2011 I think. Maybe even 2010. We should catch up soon. I miss you.

If it wasn't for the fact that nobody locally convenient is hiring I'd seriously considering leaving
