Supposed to get up to 107F today and the A/C has stopped working.

The thermostat shows the inside temp as 85 right now. I'm not so concerned about myself as I am for the cats. Katrina has a double coat, so I hope I can keep her in front of a fan. Gonna go put out more water bowls for them right now.

Ouch. That's TOO hot.

It's 100 outside right now, and it's 87 in here. So it could be worse, I suppose. The a/c repairman cannot be here for three more hours, so we'll just have to hang on with fans.

At least hubby is at work today. Perhaps he's in a cooled room right now.
(Wow. I think I just heard him laughing from afar. Most likely he's outside inspecting aircraft or something.)

P.S. Give your new puddy a kiss on the head from me. :)

Spent the better part of the day lying atop of the left wing, surface temp well above 130F.

I usually put bowls or bags of ice behind my fan; it cools nearly as goo as an a/c...oh,yeah, I've never actually HAD an air conditioner, but still...

That sounds a little like a swamp cooler. That's what my family had in Colorado instead of a traditional A/C (because it's so dry there). It worked better than an A/C a lot of the time.

Growing up in south Texas, we never had any air conditioning. But I don't remember it ever getting over 100 degrees back then.

If you have the funds, buy a window unit A.C. for a backup for future problems. Ours has saved our bacon many times now, because the repair people can sometimes take a few days to get here. We have two window units now; one for the family room downstairs and one for the bedroom upstairs.

When GA got home from work today, he headed out to buy one. (The repairman doesn't know how long it'll take to get the replacement part.)

That way, you get at least one room cool (like the bedroom). It makes all the difference in the world. Now we have that one for downstairs, it means that we have one place on each level to be cool if our main air goes out, and of course, the birds and guinea pig are in the downstairs room so it's good for them too.

Put the window unit in the bedroom, it was nice once it cooled off. I’m thinking of getting another one for the kitchen or the computer room.

You need to move to somewhere with civilised weather.

It's great to see you. *** hugs ***

Yuck! I can't imagine. We are looking at a high of 75F here in San Jose.

Our lows don't even get down in the 70s. *sigh*

If it makes you feel better, I don't even have air conditioning. And we do get into the 90s occasionally in the summer. We've just been having a really cool summer this year.
