On Vox: Plus-size Clothing Store Post

Aug 20, 2007 21:50

I just wrote a post with 8 different plus-size shopping places. The post gives a bit of information about them, and a brief review of their clothing line, and my experience (if any) with the clothing. I would really appreciate if people would stop by and check it out. I would like to hear your opinions on the article, including but not limited to, ( Read more... )

Thanks for posting this!!! It's a nice guide and some of those places, I'd never heard of.

The Catos in my area do have a plus sized section, but they stop at size 24.

Hmm, mine goes to 28 and, on rare occasions, 30. I'll put a note in the article that sizing varies at the stores so call and check ahead.

I'm glad it was helpful to you! Feel free to pass it around. :)

Thanks. :) I will. Lucky y'all for having bigger sizees.
I will say, it's been a couple years since I went to a CATO, it could be the same here now.

Lame Bryant sucks hard. I like your writing style a lot, you come off like a professional travel writer or restaurant reviewer. I think this article could have, perhaps, been a little bit better served by some kind of graphic or chart that showed people where the best of those 7 places was to buy formals, or casuals or business or whatever. Or even dresses .vs jeans, maybe. *smooch*

I'm gonna go with you making a joke on this one. In which case, I say: Duh, don't you know all fat girls have big boobs? That's why they get any action at all.

Why do you think Lane Bryant sucks?

Thank you for the compliment. You reading my article and giving feedback means a great deal to me. I like your suggestion too, so I think I'm going to work on making a table.

Don't listen to Khall.. I love Lane Bryant. I just bought a really cute polka dot top last week and I buy most of my bras from there... only place that really fits big chests yo, without spending $70+.

That's what I've heard about them too. I'm going to put a mention of the intimate wear for the larger busted I think. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Haven't really heard of most of the places, besides the one (rather obvious of course and sorry they were so screwy with your order, but glad you were happy with the suit in the end), but may take a poke at them on the next round of shoping ( ... )

Don't worry about them being screwy with my order. Apparently you've had good service, so it's a place to keep in mind. Do you buy a lot of things from them?

I'll take a look at Fashion Bug to see what I think. I like the incentive program, and it might be useful to people who like to shop in stores. If I add this one, it'll make it 9. So I'm thinking of finding another and doing a "Top 10 must have places to shop for plus-size clothing" for my AC article. I'm gonna go check out your cruise pictures.

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.

For the post part, I have...I had a few items back ordered also, but didn't have the odd issues that you did. They simply sent them on the designated date and all was well. I wouldn't say a lot, but I've but in a couple orders with them. And they are the place I've hit more recently. I'll have to find the links for some of the other places I've ventured to in the past.

Though honestly, I've had fairly good luck with Fashion Bug, again more of stopping the store once in awhile just to wander and see what is in....Granted with a store near it isn't horridly inconvenient for me to do that either. The store by me is just a regular Fashion Bug, and has a decent plus section, and I'd really like to see where the nearest Fashion Bug Plus is to check and see how different they actually are.

Here is the picture with the dress in question :

Unfortunately there isn't a Fashion Bug around me, but the website looks pretty good so I'm going to consider order a piece or two off them so. I only need to lose 10 more pounds before I have to get more clothes. Mine are currently falling off. :P

I really love that dress! Awesome. Thanks so much for the lead!

Lane Bryant has begun to look a little ethnic overall to me, or maybe I'm just that conservative of a dresser.

Cato's store in Commerce has half the store dedicated to plus sizes, and they have some fabulous things at very good prices, though I don't know what their size range is. I have a few things from there that I'd be glad to show you sometime.

Avenue is great for finding a good fit, but the styles are hit or miss, for the most part.

And I still forgot to stop by your apartment. Maybe you should just throw the stuff through the woods and let it roll down the hill. :P

Interesting, I haven't been to an actual LB store in awhile. I should go check it out since it's just right down the street.

I do love Cato's. I just wish they would sell online! Commerce is a PITA to get to. Have you been to the one in Athens? I can only fit into 26-28 (sometimes) so I keep away from stores mostly.

If I let them roll down the hill, will you leave me gifts of chocolate? ;)
